St Mary's Lighthouse Whitley Bay Wedding Photography - Bill and David
Had a great time photographing the wedding of Bill and David at St Mary's Lighthouse in Whitley Bay. This was the first same sex marriage that I had photographed after the recent change to the law. Bill and David are a lovely couple and I was pleased to learn they loved photography and had taken great care to pick the right wedding photographer for them.
The venue for the wedding was a beautiful location on the whitley bay coast. One thing we really hoped for was good weather as being right on the coast and on a lighthouse the landscape is stunning as long as its not raining! Well, during may we had some stunning weather but on the wedding day it was absolutely lashing it down! As a professional Im always ready for bad weather and looked forward to the challenge of the day.
After all the guests arrived at Bill and Davids house we headed to St Mary's Lighthouse. I handed out a few umbrellas at the carpark and headed across the causeway. I managed to capture some stunning shots on the way over. After a lovely ceremony with the biggest round of applause I've ever witnessed we made good use of the lighthouse for some couple portraits. With the rain still lashing down we then headed over to North Shields Fish Quay and the River Cafe for the meal. It was at the Fish Quays that I took some stunning photographs using off camera flash techniques with the very important umbrella! Happy to say the results really do look amazing.
I have already delivered Bill and Davids album and both are very happy with the set of photographs captured on their wedding day. The bad weather actually made for some unforgettable photographs that will be enjoyed for years to come.
Congratulations again and really hope your album brings you both years of joy looking back over a really special day :)
